Dorset Argonaut & Voyager

01 February 2008

Dorset County Council is developing an Urban Traffic Management and Control based Intelligent Transport Systems infrastructure.

They are establishing a comprehensive UTMC Centre by development of the existing centralised Network Traffic Control located in County Hall, Colliton Park, Dorchester.

As part of the development of the DCC Local Transport Plan 2 and in order to comply with the requirements of the Traffic Management Act 2004, Dorset County Council recognises that new and legacy systems will need to be integrated in an open architecture to deliver the travel information and reports required.

It is for those reasons Dorset has opted for the Cloud Amber Argonaut Unified Transport Management & Control system together with Cloud Amber Voyager Transport Information & Alerts.

Cloud Amber are linking together:

  • Siemens SCOOT
  • Pips Journey Times Monitoring System
  • Travel Information Highway supplied DATEX II
  • Siemens Remote Monitoring System
  • BBC TPEG
  • EXOR Roadworks
  • Findlay Irvine Weather Stations
  • Closed Circuit Television
  • Siemens Prefect
  • RTPI Vehicle & Stop Centric Information

In a unified transport control centre, Dorset are able to oversee the traffic and travel information for the whole of the county and beyond.
